Abstract:
Technological advancements have brought about significant changes in various sectors, including environmental monitoring, public health, and urban development. However, the rapid industrialization and increasing use of technology have also contributed to growing air pollution, which has emerged as a major concern for public health, particularly in developing countries like Rwanda. This research examines the impact of technological advances on human health in relation to air pollution in Kigali City Rwanda, focusing on the dual role that technology plays—both as a contributor to air pollution and as a tool for mitigating its effects.
The study explores how industrial activities, transportation advancements, and urbanization contribute to air pollution and the resulting adverse health impacts, such as respiratory diseases, cardiovascular conditions, and premature deaths. Simultaneously, the research highlights how technology is being leveraged in Rwanda to monitor air quality, assess health risks, and implement solutions to reduce air pollution. Technologies such as air quality sensors, real-time data analysis, and predictive modelling are enabling policymakers and healthcare professionals to make informed decisions and take preventive actions.
Through a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods, including data collection from environmental agencies, health records, and interviews with key stakeholders, this study provides a comprehensive understanding of how technological innovations are influencing both the levels of air pollution and its health implications in Rwanda. The findings underscore the need for continued investment in technological solutions to combat air pollution while also addressing the challenges posed by industrial growth and transportation technologies.
The research concludes that while technological progress has contributed to increased pollution levels in some areas, it also offers critical tools for mitigating health risks and improving air quality. Recommendations are made for further integrating technology in environmental and health policy, as well as promoting sustainable technological practices to safeguard public health in Rwanda.
