dc.description.abstract This study about the Impact of cross border trade and the socio-economic development of Local community, the Case study of Rubavu District 2021 - 2023, is aimed at assessing cross border trade and its contribution to the socio-economic development of Local community. The reason for this research was that the researcher observed and wanted to deepen cross border trade components in Local community. The research paper forms part of documents that have been developed to assist municipal councils and local government officials in understanding their legal duties in relation to cross border trade. The dissertation takes its focus to Rubavu District and in addition to evaluate the extent of the cross border trade in Rubavu District and socio-economic development of Rubavu District , to empirically examine the impact of cross border trade management and socio-economic development of Local community, to provide some recommendations based on findings. From the review of different already existing documents, the researcher highlighted the evolution of cross border trade and its impact on socio-economic development of Rubavu District. The researcher went to field to collect data so that he got relevant findings. At the end of the study the research highlighted some recommendations to different stakeholders concerned by the issue in question such as government, informal sector traders, security hierarchy in Local community, etc. Through the assessment of respondent’s views on this relationship, the researcher found out that cross border trade although not highly developed were promising, because all indicators considered at this level showed that the all cross border trade partners were aware of its importance and they will continue in developing this crucial component of economy, there was professional training organized in order to formalize them, they have recognized being keen of the huge task and long way forward to go but still, their confidence and level of accomplishment in limited time is promising en_US
