Abstract:
The study tended to investigate Mechanical properties of concrete made with partial replacement
of F. A by metal slugs. Concrete is strong in compression and weak in tension. So we will
reinforce the concrete. Metal slugs have been added to the concrete as reinforcement to
improve its mechanical properties. This study explored the use of metal slugs as reinforcement in
concrete to access the compressive strength of concrete reinforced with metal slugs. The
34
objective of this study was too investigate the compressive strength of concrete reinforced with
metal slugs and compares the strength of normal concrete. This was the one ways to reduce the
harmful destruction of the ecosystem and to have policies encouraging the use of metal slugs
reinforcing composites in light structures because it is bio-degradable over a long period and
various metal slugs available for reinforcing concrete, the method of mixing of fresh and
hardened concrete reinforced by metal slugs were described in this report. In this research, the
mechanical properties of metal slug‟s reinforced concrete were examined using the cube crushing
test. The compressive strength was carried out on 150x150x150 mm concrete cubes after 7 days,
14 days and 28 days cured in water, the results revealed that the compressive strength of
hardened concrete increase with the addition of metal slugs, the metal slugs were added in
percentages 0%, 1%, 2% and 3% the optimum fiber percentage for compressive strength was
found to be at 2%. The results show that the composites reinforced with metal slugs are reliable
materials to be used in practice for the production of structural elements to be used in urban area
and in another civil construction project. The metal slugs were effective in improving the strength
of concrete.
