IMPACT OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP ACTIVITIES TO SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF PEOPLE IN RURAL AREAS OF RWANDA. CASE STUDY: KARANGAZI SECTOR (2021-2024)

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to investigate the impact of entrepreneurship activities to socio- economic development of people in rural areas in Rwanda. Case study: Karangazi sector (2021- 2024). The specific objectives of the study were to assess the effectiveness of entrepreneurship activities in Karangazi sector and to examine the contribution of entrepreneurship activities in socio-economic development of people in rural areas of Karangazi sector. The results show that entrepreneurship activities available in Karangazi sector are farmers, Restaurants, Hair dressers, Carpenters, Traders, Transporters and Tailoring. Also, the personal reasons for being interested self-employment as an entrepreneur in Karangazi sector are due to entrepreneurship activities I am able to pay school fees of my children, I am able to pay health insurance on time because of entrepreneurship activities, Entrepreneurship activities have increased my income level, Due to entrepreneurship activities I have increased my saving, I have invested more due to entrepreneurship activities, I have acquired more assets due to entrepreneurship activities, Because of entrepreneurship activities I am able to build, renovate, buy a shelter, Due to entrepreneurship activities I am able to pay salaries my employees, I had fought against poverty in my family due to entrepreneurship activities 9 and Due to entrepreneurship activities I am able to contribute in the development of my country through paying Taxes. The contribution of entrepreneurship activities on social economic development of people in Karangazi sector are that entrepreneurship activities have improved the education levels of children in Karangazi Sector, Entrepreneurship activities have enhanced access to healthcare services in Karangazi Sector, Entrepreneurship activities in Karangazi Sector have promoted gender equality, Women have become more empowered through entrepreneurship activities in Karangazi sector, Entrepreneurship activities have improved housing condition in Karangazi sector, Entrepreneurship activities have led to better meal availability and nutrition in Karangazi sector, Income level have increased in Karangazi sector due to entrepreneurship activities, Entrepreneurship activities have encouraged savings among the people of Karangazi sector, Due to entrepreneurship activities in Karangazi sector it has reduced the problem of unemployment and Due to entrepreneurship activities in Karangazi sector people are able to pay taxes.
