dc.description.abstract This final year project explores a critical decision-making process that significantly impacts the success, cost, and sustainability of a project. This study aims to analyze the various 1 factors that influence the selection of construction materials in building projects. Through a comprehensive review of literature and case studies, key factors such as material availability, cost, environmental impact, durability, technical performance, and regulatory requirements are identified. The research also considers emerging trends like the use of eco-friendly materials and innovations in construction technology. Stakeholder preferences, including those of architects, contractors, and clients, are examined to understand their role in material choice. A mixed-method approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data, was employed to assess the relative importance of each factor. The findings reveal that cost remains the dominant factor, although sustainability and environmental considerations are becoming increasingly prioritized due to regulatory pressures and market demands. The study concludes by providing recommendations for balancing technical, economic, and environmental aspects in material selection to optimize the overall performance of construction projects. en_US
