Abstract:
The Crime Records Management System (CRMS) is a web-based application designed to
streamline and centralize crime record management across police stations nationwide,
facilitating swift access to critical information. The system aims to improve crime prevention,
criminal detection, and conviction rates by providing police with rapid access to records,
thereby enhancing their effectiveness in combating crime. Initially deployed across cities and
towns, the CRMS will eventually interlink police stations statewide, enabling seamless
information sharing and aiding in case resolution.
The system adopts a distributed architecture with centralized database storage, employing
robust security standards and data protection mechanisms. Built using PHP and integrated with
HTML, the system ensures dynamic web page creation and server-side processing to handle
tasks such as form data management, session handling, and database interactions.
Technologies like UML and XAMPP support system analysis and database creation,
respectively.
The CRMS incorporates multiple modules to manage diverse aspects of crime data, such as
case records, suspect information, and incident reporting. Each module is designed with user
accessibility in mind, providing police personnel with easy-to-navigate interfaces and
streamlined workflows. Additionally, the system includes comprehensive reporting capabilities
that generate timely reports in alignment with administrative standards. These reports assist
law enforcement in tracking case progress, evaluating operational effectiveness, and
maintaining organized records. Overall, the modular design and reporting features of the
CRMS contribute to a more organized and efficient crime management process.
